Privacy Policy

Replace Owl is a Google Docs add-on for finding and replacing text. This policy explains what it accesses and why. Replace Owl is made by Owlkit.
Google user data we access
Replace Owl requests these Google OAuth permissions:
- View and manage documents that this application has been installed in (
documents.currentonly): to search the text of the document you open the add-on in, and to make the replacements and formatting changes you ask for. - Display and run third-party web content in prompts and sidebars (
script.container.ui): to show the Replace Owl sidebar. - Connect to an external service (
script.external_request): only to activate and validate a Pro license key with our payment provider, Polar (api.polar.sh).
Replace Owl cannot access any other file in your Google Drive.
How we use and store it
- Document text is processed only inside Google's Apps Script environment, only while you use the add-on, and only to perform the search or replacement you requested. It is never stored, logged or sent anywhere.
- Your saved batch lists, your license key and a counter of free Pro tries are stored in your own Google account's add-on storage (Apps Script User Properties). Only you and the add-on can read them.
- License checks send your license key, an activation label (“Replace Owl · Google Docs”) and our organization ID to Polar. No document content and no personal information are sent.
Sharing
We do not sell, share or transfer Google user data to anyone. We do not use it for advertising, and we do not use it to train AI or machine-learning models. Replace Owl's use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Payments
When you buy Pro, Polar processes your payment as merchant of record under Polar's privacy policy. We receive your email address and purchase details from Polar to provide support.
Deleting your data
Uninstalling the add-on stops all access. To remove saved lists and license data, remove the license in the Account tab and delete your lists, or ask us. To have purchase records deleted, email us.
