Dedupe Owl is a Google Sheets™ add-on for finding, highlighting and removing duplicate rows. This policy explains what it accesses and why. Dedupe Owl is made by Owlkit.
Google user data we access
Dedupe Owl requests these Google OAuth permissions:
- View and manage spreadsheets that this application has been installed in (
spreadsheets.currentonly): to read the cells of the spreadsheet you open the add-on in, and to make the highlights, deletions and other changes you ask for. - Display and run third-party web content in prompts and sidebars (
script.container.ui): to show the Dedupe Owl sidebar. - Connect to an external service (
script.external_request): only to activate and validate a Pro license key with our payment provider, Polar (api.polar.sh).
Dedupe Owl cannot access any other file in your Google Drive™.
How we use and store it
- Spreadsheet data is processed only inside Google's Apps Script environment, only while you use the add-on, and only to perform the duplicate search or change you requested. It is never stored, logged or sent anywhere.
- Your license key and a counter of free Pro tries are stored in your own Google account's add-on storage (Apps Script User Properties). Only you and the add-on can read them.
- License checks send your license key, an activation label (“Dedupe Owl · Google Sheets”) and our organization ID to Polar. No spreadsheet content and no personal information are sent.
Sharing
We do not sell, share or transfer Google user data to anyone. We do not use it for advertising, and we do not use it to train AI or machine-learning models. Dedupe Owl's use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Payments
When you buy Pro, Polar processes your payment as merchant of record under Polar's privacy policy. We receive your email address and purchase details from Polar to provide support.
Deleting your data
Uninstalling the add-on stops all access. To remove license data, remove the license in the Account tab, or ask us. To have purchase records deleted, email us.
