Sleepy Owl puts the tabs you aren't using to sleep, so Chrome uses less memory and your computer stays fast. Click a sleeping tab and it wakes up right where you left it.
Free forever. No account, no ads, no tracking. In 53 languages.
Older tab suspenders moved your tabs to their own pages. When those extensions broke or were removed, people lost hundreds of tabs. Sleepy Owl uses Chrome's own built-in tab discarding instead: sleeping tabs keep their place, title and icon, and nothing changes if you ever remove the extension.
Tabs sleep after 5 minutes to 1 day without use. You choose.
Suspend this tab, all other tabs, or wake them all. Alt+Shift+S and Alt+Shift+O.
Never the tab you're on, tabs playing audio, pinned tabs, or sites on your list.
Optionally skips tabs where you've typed into a form and haven't sent it.
Nothing you browse leaves your computer. It doesn't even need access to the pages you visit.
Every major European language, plus Arabic, Hebrew, Persian, Hindi, Japanese, Chinese and more.
It does, and Sleepy Owl uses the same mechanism. The difference is control: you decide how long a tab may be idle, which sites never sleep, and you can put tabs to sleep yourself with one click or a shortcut.
Nothing bad. Sleeping tabs are regular Chrome tabs that simply aren't loaded yet. They stay in your tab bar and load when you click them.
Turn on "Never suspend tabs with unsaved text in a form" in the settings and Sleepy Owl checks for typed text before a tab sleeps. That option asks for permission to look at pages; the check happens on your computer only.
Yes. Sleepy Owl is free, with no ads and no data collection. It's made by Owlkit, who also make Refresh Owl.
